Unconquerable Victory
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. Romans 8:37 NLT
It is NOT God’s will that you and I live every day in defeat!
Losing is NOT a part of God’s plan for our lives. Quitting in life or quitting in a battle that God has designed for us to win is not part of God’s plan for our lives.
Too many people have accepted the lie that because of (insert whatever reason here), you must live a life that is a roller coaster of emotions.
Some of you have accepted in your mind that you are already defeated.
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31
We must get it in our minds and in our hearts that God is for us.
Do you really believe that?
Do you believe this Word is true? Or do you think it is a book of make believe and fairy tales?
If that’s your viewpoint, you will always live in overwhelming defeat!
Your faith and your belief will determine how your day goes. It determines how you wake up and it will determine how you go to bed.
I choose to believe that God is FOR ME!
I choose to live in overwhelming victory.
Guzik said, “One person plus God makes an unconquerable majority.”
STORY OF GIDEON
I won’t go into all the details today, but I want to take us back to this story this morning to prove a point. No matter if the majority is against you, GOD IS GREATER!
In the natural, you might NOT be as strong as others.
In the natural, you might NOT be as smart as others.
In the natural, you might NOT have the same resources as others.
That is why it is not one plus me that makes me an unconquerable majority. It is me PLUS God!
“But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” Judge 6:15-16 NLT
Gideon starts with 32,000 men but his army gets reduced to 300 to fight an army of 135,000.
The odds were already stacked against Gideon when he had 32,000 men. But even still, God wanted to make sure man didn’t get the credit.
The end of the story??? They had overwhelming victory with a much smaller army than their enemy… and their weapons consisted of trumpets, pitchers, and torches.
What do you think you have to fight with today? Your weapons or God’s weapons?
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
One of the key things that I think Gideon did to get ready for the battle was to get some things right at the altar.
The Bible tells us that Gideon tore down the altar of Baal and he built a new one unto God.
One of the reasons you might be losing the battle is that you also need to make some things right at the altar.
You can’t win in against the enemy if you keep making sacrifices to him.
C.S. Lewis wrote, “There is no neutral ground in the universe: every square inch, every split second, is claimed by God and counterclaimed by Satan.”
As Joshua said at the end of his life, you have to choose who you will serve.
“…choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15
“Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel.” Joshua 24:23
Maybe you are losing because you need to tear down an altar of something you have allowed to become more important than God. It could be a job, a relationship, vacation, money… none of those in themselves are wrong. But anything that you put before God is wrong. PERIOD.
What has you losing? When you should be winning?
“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” Romans 8:37 NLT
